People ask this as if one of them is the serious language and the other is a toy. They are for different jobs. Pick the job.
Python gets you to a useful script quickly. It is also the language we use for data science, machine learning, and a lot of automation. If your path is websites plus data, or AI, start here. You will still learn loops, functions, and how to read an error. You will just meet them in a language that doesn't make you fight the compiler on day one.
C++ is the right first language if you care about how programs are structured, if a university course is coming, or if you like problems with strict answers. It is slower to feel rewarding. That slowness is the lesson. Take it on purpose, not because someone said Python doesn't count.
One language, finished, beats two languages sampled. At the institute we would rather you ship the Python project or the C++ project than collect attendance in both rooms. If you are unsure, tell us what you want to build and we will pick one.
